Position Description
An established law firm in South Manchester is seeking a skilled Costs Negotiator to join their dynamic team. With a focus on personal injury and clinical negligence cases, the firm prides itself on delivering exceptional service and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle the entire lifecycle of cost matters, ensuring thorough and efficient case management.
- Negotiate settlements for costs in both litigated and non-litigated claimant personal injury cases.
- Advise fee earners on costs disputes and provide assistance in their negotiations.
- Prepare summary assessment schedules, breakdowns of costs, and formal bills, especially where detailed assessment or Part 8 proceedings are required.
- Draft replies to Points of Dispute, Budgets, and other relevant legal documents.
- Attend CCMCs (Costs Case Management Conferences) and represent the firm in advocacy related to costs matters.
- Provide support to more junior team members.
Skills & Experience:
- 2 – 5 years of experience in costs negotiation, preferably with exposure to personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
- Confidence in handling CCMCs and adept at negotiating with opposing cost teams.
- Solid grounding in cost law and comfortable working toward targets.
- Ability to handle a caseload independently and provide valuable support to colleagues.
