Costs Draftsperson

Position Description

Join the team at a reputable law firm based in the West Midlands as a Costs Draftsperson. The firm are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, either in a claimant or defendant capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare bills of costs and schedules for assessment.
  • Draft budgets and handle costs management.
  • Review and assess costs incurred in litigation matters.
  • Negotiate costs settlements with opposing parties.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant legislation and case law.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, solicitors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation of court bundles and attend hearings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of costs-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Costs Draftsperson.
  • Proficiency in drafting bills of costs and schedules for assessment.
  • Knowledge of costs budgeting and management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in conducting advocacy is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with legal case management software is advantageous.
